Jesus & The Harvest Part 2
10-23-11 AM
I. Jesus calls & empowers disciples for the Harvest
Matthew 10:1… And when He had called His twelve disciples to [Him], He gave them power
Acts 4:33... with great power gave the apostles witness of the
resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
Powerful witness ... Powerful grace
Romans 1:16... I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto salvation to every one that believes
1 Corinthians 2:5... your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men,
but in the power of God.
Etc. etc. etc.
II. Jesus instructs the Harvesters on targeting ministry.
Matthew 10:5-6… Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: "Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. 6 "But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
1. Start with your own people.
2. Go to the “Lost”
3. Remember they are sheep!
III. Jesus instructs the Harvesters on their message
Matthew 10:7… as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'
1. We must warn them of Hell… but!… Our message must always end up in Heaven…
2. Remember the urgency “Kingdom is at hand.”
IV. Jesus instructs the Harvesters on their Method
Matthew 10:8… "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
1. Minister to the needs
2. Do it liberally
V. Jesus Instructs Harvesters On provision
Matthew 10:9… Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, 10 "nor bag for [your] journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his meat.
1. Where you serve will supply your need!
2. We are sent to harvest! not merely to supply...
You will never bribe people to heaven!
John 6:26... Jesus said, Truly, I say unto you, You seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but because you ate the bread, and were filled.
Share Jesus... His love... His sacrifice... His promise His power
VI. Jesus Instructs Harvesters On The “Principles Of Effective Witnessing.”
Matthew 10:11… "Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out. 12 "And when you go into a household, greet it. 13 "If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 "And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.
1. Wherever you are... scout out the friendlies…
2. Partner with them… no “Lone Rangers”
3. Bring peace whenever possible…
4. Be sure to keep peace in yourself…
5. If you are not received, Shake the dust!!
