Jesus And The Children

12-4-11 AM

In Matthew 19:13-15... “Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Inthat command a responsibility is declared for the children...

For “of such is the Kingdom of Heaven,”

1- Childrenare not hard to reach with the Gospel,

Asimple common sense approach…

Theyare not hardened by sin,

Theirconscience is tender and their hearts open, their minds

receptive

Theirfaith simple; they are ready for the love of Jesus,

Childrenrapidly learn to pray in faith about everything

2- Wemust win and keep them after they are won… It is a part of our greatest calling…

FromChildhood…  the Lord spoke to Samuel, (1 Samuel 2:26, and 3:1-21)

Asa child God ordained Jeremiah to be a prophet and filled him with His Spirit (Jeremiah 1:5-10),

3- Childrenshould be recognized as the future… something should always be available that is designed specifically for them… both as hearers and as participants

Theirfaith in Jesus and in His Word must be developed and expressed as it was this morning

Children don’t know the meaning of big words but they can know Jesus and His saving grace!

Children know the joy of Jesus.

4- Parentsand the church must pray, teach and set an example for the treasure that is our children… depend on the Holy Spirit to save and keep them in the grace of Jesus Christ.

Close: Jesus asked Peter the searching question, ‘Do You Love  Me more than these?” and Peter answered, “Yes,  Lord, You know that I love You,” Jesus said, “Feed My lambs,”

Petermay well be considered the first Children’s Church Worker.

This Christmas… I want you to think about becoming a children’s worker?

                        1. Make it a matter of daily consideration.

                        2. Put yourself in the place of the children and ask what  would make me want to be in church?

                        3. Finally pray that your heart will be filled with love and  passion to see Riverhills children prosper.

Merry Christmas from the Children Ministry Staff... It is their joy to provide spiritual foundation to your kids…
