Jesus & The Harvest Part 1

10-9-11

Text: Matthew 9:37-38  Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly [is] plentiful, but the laborers [are] few.  38 “Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

One: Jesus Establishes Harvest Authority

Matthew 9:37  Then Jesus "said" to His disciples…

Harvest Authority is the Word in practice... If Jesus said it, it will be

                        done!

Matthew 28:18… Reminds us that...  “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

Two: Jesus Establishes The Harvest Objective

Matthew 9:37-38  Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly [is]           plentiful

The objective is ... Global... God so loved the world

John 3:16-17… "For God so loved the world that He gave His

only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish                                 but have everlasting life.  17 “For God did not send His Son into

the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him

                                    might be saved.

The objective is ... Global & Giving... He gave His only begotten Son

The objective is ... Global & Gripping... whoever believes in Him

should not perish but have everlasting life

The objective is ... Global & Generous... God did not send His Son to

                        condemn, but to save

Three: Jesus Establishes The Harvest Problem

Matthew 9:37  Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly [is]

plentiful, but the laborers [are] few.

The Harvest is huge! The Laborers are few…

                                    Prepare the soil... Initiate relationship

Plant the seed... Share the Word

Fertilize & water the plants... Feed potential

                                    Weed the patch... Remove hindrances

Harvest the crop... Help them make a decision

                                    Keep the crop safe... Discipleship

Four: Jesus Establishes How The Harvest Begins

Matthew 9:37-38  Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly [is]

plentiful, but the laborers [are] few.  38 “Therefore pray...

                        The Harvest begins with Prayer...

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12… Therefore we also pray always  for you that our God would count you worthy of [this] calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of [His] goodness and the work of faith with power,  12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you,

Five: Jesus Establishes The Harvest Method

Matthew 9:37-38  Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly [is]

plentiful, but the laborers [are] few.  38 “Therefore pray the Lord of the

            harvest to send out laborers

God wants partners in the Harvest

We must not only pray... We must "Go"!

Matthew 28:19   "Go therefore and make disciples of  all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  20  "teaching them to observe  all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age."

Six: Jesus Establishes Ownership Of The Harvest

Matthew 9:37-38  Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly [is]

plentiful, but the laborers [are] few.  38 “Therefore pray the Lord of the

harvest to send out laborers into "His" harvest.

Psalms 24:1  The earth [is] the Lord's, and all its  fullness , The world and those who dwell therein.

All the saints are His! All the sinners too!

We are called to Rescue... Renovate... & Release workers into His Field!!
